Disclaimer & Scope of Practice

Effective August 5, 2026

Sunshine Patient Advocacy and Support Services provides independent, non-clinical patient advocacy and healthcare navigation. Our role is to help individuals and families understand information, organize priorities, identify resources, prepare questions, and navigate complex healthcare and caregiving situations with greater clarity.

WHAT SUNSHINE PATIENT ADVOCACY CAN PROVIDE

Services may include healthcare navigation, education, organization of health information, appointment preparation, benefits and insurance navigation, research of community resources and care options, caregiver support, communication support, assistance identifying questions to ask licensed professionals, and personalized action planning.

NON-CLINICAL SCOPE

Sunshine Patient Advocacy does not diagnose medical conditions, interpret symptoms as a medical provider, prescribe or recommend medications, order treatment, provide nursing care, make treatment decisions for clients, or replace the advice of a licensed healthcare professional. Medical questions and decisions should be discussed with an appropriately licensed healthcare provider.

NO LEGAL OR FINANCIAL ADVICE

Sunshine Patient Advocacy does not provide legal advice, legal representation, tax advice, investment advice, or other licensed financial services. Information about advance care planning, benefits, insurance, estate-planning resources, powers of attorney, or similar topics is provided for general education and navigation only. Questions requiring legal or financial advice should be directed to a qualified professional.

CLIENT CHOICE AND DECISION-MAKING

The client or legally authorized decision-maker retains responsibility for all decisions. Advocacy services are intended to help clients understand options and next steps, not to make healthcare, legal, financial, placement, or caregiving decisions on their behalf.

NO GUARANTEE OF OUTCOME

Healthcare systems, insurers, government agencies, facilities, providers, and other third parties make their own decisions. Sunshine Patient Advocacy cannot guarantee eligibility, benefit approval, insurance coverage, facility placement, provider acceptance, treatment outcomes, timelines, availability of resources, or any other specific result.

THIRD-PARTY PROVIDERS AND RESOURCES

We may identify or provide information about healthcare providers, attorneys, facilities, agencies, community organizations, products, services, or other resources. Clients are responsible for evaluating and selecting third parties. Unless expressly stated, inclusion of a resource does not constitute an endorsement and does not create responsibility for the acts or omissions of that third party.

COMMUNICATION AND AUTHORIZATION

When advocacy work requires communication with a healthcare provider, insurer, facility, agency, family member, caregiver, or other third party, appropriate client authorization may be required. Sunshine Patient Advocacy communicates only within the scope authorized by the client or legally authorized representative.

EMERGENCIES

Sunshine Patient Advocacy is not an emergency response service. Do not use this website, email, scheduling system, or advocacy service for emergency medical care. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate care.

INDEPENDENCE

Sunshine Patient Advocacy is an independent advocacy business. Unless expressly stated otherwise, it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, employed by, or acting on behalf of any hospital, health system, healthcare provider, insurer, employer, government agency, or other outside organization.
